This is a list of blogs that I like to read myself. Some of the writers I consider friends, some don’t know me at all, but I find myself going back to these sites over and over.
- Food Photo 101 - a collaboration with Nika Boyce to teach and learn better food photography. This is an interactive course of instruction. I call it collaborative, but Nika’s the talent behind Food Photo 101, and I’m just along for the ride. Materials for the class can be found at either of our sites (my Food Photo 101 page or Nika’s Food Photo 101 page). Accompanying the course are a Flickr group, Food Photo 101, and a forum. At the end of each week of lessons, a newsletter is available with that lesson and results from me and other people following the course at the Food Photo 101 Newsletter page.
- BBQ Guy’s BBQ Blog - the only barbecue blog with more
alliteration than mine. Brian is a great guy with a lot of
barbecue know-how. - Men In Aprons - Adam doesn’t fit just in barbecue, but he’s started
competing, so I’m leaving him here! - Playing with Fire and Smoke - LOTS of barbecue recipes and some
pretty darn good bbq photos. - Plowboys BBQ - A great competition team that also has really good
ideas on what to do with leftover barbecue (if only I could figure out
how to have leftover barbecue). - The Hampton Smoker - He does East Coast barbecue right.
- White Trash BBQ - Another New Yorker bringing barbecue knowledge to
the uninitiated. - It’s not a blog, but it is my favorite forum: The BBQ Brethren.
- Pinch My Salt - Nicole has great recipes, incredible photos and writing to match.
- Nika’s Culinaria - Great food, professional photos, and a really
nice person. - Becks & Posh - Really nice style and great articles.
- blue kitchen - Terry has a great style of writing, good food, and
great stories (he swears)! - The Foodologist - Dr. Guy doesn’t post often, but when he does,
it’s worth the read, and I wish I could take photos like he does. - MattBites - Matt puts on classes on how to do this food blogging thing (and he
does ok with a camera, too). - The Pioneer Woman Cooks - Ree’s step by step photos are unrivaled, in my
opinion. - stephencooks - Stephen calls this a kitchen diary of an amateur chef.
- Dessert First - Anita has a great dessert blog with mouth-watering views of the food. Very dangerous!
- Technicolor Kitchen - Patricia has a really nice blog that just turned 1 recently.
- The Well Fed Network - I contribute to several sub-blogs on here; good
articles with a lot of variety and points of view. - Wild Yeast - Susan makes bread that I hope one day to be able to taste, let alone make myself.
- Technicolor Kitchen - Patricia is not only a really nice lady, she also has a great looking blog.
If you have a site you think I should be listing here, please feel free to email me; I may either not have seen it yet or really given it a chance…
