I don’t know why I got this in mind to try, but it was kind of fun; for a week at the beginning of the month of October, I asked several people to take photos of all of their meals for the week. Originally, I was going to post the photos of just one meal, but I ended up asking for a picture of each meal, on random days.
My wife picked the days. We ended up with Tuesday’s breakfast, Wednesday’s lunch and Sunday’s dinner. Here are the results, starting with mine:
Breakfast on Tuesday was a simple iced coffee and Egg McMuffin from, you know it, McDonald’s. The view out the windshield is just on the edge of the town were I live. And since I have a rule of no eating in the car, I stood outside the car while I ate the Egg McMuffin.
Lunch was just a quick bowl of beef stew that I picked up at the cafe at the office. It came with cornbread and was actually pretty decent. The people that sit around me thought it was funny that I put down cloth napkins to cover up my desk when i was taking photos of lunches all week!
We were in Pittsburgh on Sunday, and dinner was at Primanti Brothers in Oakland. I had a cheesesteak sandwich, and their sandwiches include fries and slaw right on the sandwich.
Next is Laura. She got some really nice photos, and her breakfast photo is great:
She thought, and I agree, that her photo speaks for itself.
Laura didn’t actually have lunch on Wednesday, but she was smoking the butts for Friday, and I couldn’t not post this photo!
From Laura:
This is my ultimate comfort food! We call them Kelley meatballs. My maiden name is Kelley. This is my Grandmothers simple recipe.
1.5 lbs. ground chuck or ground beef of any kind
various spices, garlic powder, salt, pepper, wooster sauce,
handful dried minced onions, or fresh, whatever you are in the mood for
handful dried parsley
1 cup instant rice, (I never measure anything, I just go by how I like it)
1 egg
Shape into 2 inch balls, or what size you like, but not huge
put into baking dish, and cover with 2 cans of tomato soup
Bake around 40-45 minutes at 375*
This MUST be served with mashed potatoes!!! Use whatever veggie you like!
This dish always reminds me of growing up, and brings back many memories!
Laura
Next is Nika from Nika’s Culinaria.
Breakfasts are poor for me, always a coffee but on tuesday since I was rushing out the door to Boston, I had none at all. My lunch was my b-fast and that was in the car! Thats a crispy chipotle wrap from McD (no fries, coffee to drink.. could not shoot that while driving like I shot the chipotle wrap

Lunch on wednesday was snacking and it wasnt that I ate a whole bag of chips or bar of chocolate as seen in the photos, just a bit of each.
Supper on sunday was not photogenic!
Rice and pork roast with emeril seasoning on it. I had applesauce too but that was added after the photo (forgot about it) . drink = water.
Am I the only one that remember Peter on the Brady Bunch impersonating Bogart, saying, “Pork chops and applesauce”?
Next is Ron. He just got me his dinner photo, but it comes with a great description. But first, here’s a shot of him, holding up a 2nd place ribbon for Anything Butt at the Zoo-B-Q competition in 2006
This was a combination of new meat and left over sides. We were busy all day but I really want to fire up the Weber Performer and cook some steaks. The steak is a 16 oz aged Hereford rib eye from Fresh Market and was cooked over Royal Oak hardwood lump until it was medium rare. The sides are home made apple-slaw (an adaptation of a KFC knock-off recipe) and twice-baked stuffed sweet potatoes. The sweet potato was cooked whole than split in half and scooped out. The scoopings were mixed with Keri C’s Hog Apple Baked Beans, crumbled bacon and sliced peaches and then re-baked on the grill until hot and bubbly.
Ron is a BBQ Brethren, as is Bill, who happens to be next!
Bill’s Sunday meal was Beer Can Chicken.
It was beer can chicken night at our house. First time doing them in about 6 months. I threw 2 on there, perched on top of a half can of Awesomely Dirt Cheap Beer - Light that I got from my buddy Parrothead. Sides were some doctored Bush Beans (added molasses and brown sugar, and a package of ready made bacon) and some Sweet Harmony low sodium rice mix by Sadaf. Sauce on the side was Spicewine Ironworks Sweet Heat.
Beer can chickens are some of the moistest ways to cook chicken. Since I did two 7#er’s for 4 people (what was I thinking) I had a ton of leftover. Freeze shrank couple 1# packs, then the rest of the week was centered around the chicken. Chicken noodle soup the next night, mixed with a little sauce and on a bun the following, into a pot of reduced sodium Zatarains Chicken Creole rice mix, and the last night, chicken chili.
Good stuff
Then Bill sent this for his breakfast and lunch photos:

I’ve been there before, too!
JPW is another BBQ Brethren that participated.
His Sunday meal supposedly included veggies, but he didn’t waste space on that. He had a brat fattie, country ribs and chicken legs. Who needs veggies???

Breakfast was interesting… A Little Debbie nutty bar and coffee.

And lunch was a couple meatball Hotpockets and a Pepsi. How does this guy live through the week??? ![]()

A couple of friends round out the experiment. Josh and Kammie both sent me photos, though Sunday was the same meal for both of them:

That’s right… They had nothing for Sunday dinner!
Kammie’s breakfast was pretty much the same all the way through the week. I have to say that this meal should be improving for her since she’s in the healing process from issues with her immune system.
Protein Shake: 8oz skim milk, 4 strawberries & a scoop of whey protein isolate containing: 120 calories, 3 carbs and 22 grams of protein.
Plus, my handful of pills & vitamins. This is pretty much my breakfast everyday, unless I decide to have oatmeal.
One Apple, water (not pictured)
Mandarin Chicken Stir fry leftovers: (Rice, red peppers, onion, carrots, chicken, bottled mandarin orange sauce)
Josh’s breakfast was more traditional:

And lunch on Wednesday was brought in for a meeting:
Our work had presentations at lunch on our products and they provided Subway. I had Lays BBQ potato chips and a water (not pictured).
That’s the end of this go around. I thought it was interesting to see what people actually eat during the week, especially those of us trying to show off good stuff all the time. It just proves we all eat normal junk at times. Except Nika, that is. Even her junk food is cool!

Thanks, Susan. The sad part was when I looked back at my meals. I’m not proud of all of them!

Well, at least I’m not the only one with poor breakfast habits!! That was fun!

Laura, I was glad I didn’t have to show some of my other meals! I still have the photos and may put them up some day. It was kind of interesting to go back and see what all I had eaten for meals in a week, though. Thanks for participating!

Sorry that I’m late…but this was really great. Man, that’s a great Idea. I loved this day’s post.
I’m not a blogger, but if you do a fan of the site’s meals…I might get in on that one.

C-pher, thanks for the comment. It was just a goofy idea I had. And I just realized, as much as I like to cook, nothing I posted here was made by me!
