Week 1 progress

Topic: Diet|

Sky3way
It’s not really a full week yet, but I thought I’d do these at the end of the week instead of the beginning.  This has been a tough week all around.  My dog, Woody, is having some pretty major issues, but we’re praying that things settle down.  He’s such a great dog, and I want him to be around a long time still!

With the stress of dealing with Woody, I wasn’t great on my 3 hour plan, but I wasn’t horrible, either.  I’m down 2 lbs, which is a good, healthy start, even if 2 lbs to me is like throwing a deck chair off the QE II…  But 2 lbs is 2 lbs, and enough weeks of that will put me where I should be.

I did cheat twice this week.  One night, we had pizza, and another we had chicken, but I took the skin off, so it wasn’t horrible.  Today was the hardest, though, partly regarding the picture above…

I didn’t pack my lunch today; packing my own makes it really easy to only eat the right stuff.  I headed downstairs to get a salad, though, having the best of intentions.

In the elevator, a group of people were going to Skyline Chili… I LOVE Skyline!!!  There are those that turn up their noses at Skyline Chili, but they’re missing something.  No, it’s not Texas chili or anything like that; get past any bias about what it’s called… It’s just GOOD!

Skyline

The bad part is that there’s a Skyline restaurant directly across the street from the door to the building, and I was sorely tempted to go over there.  However, I resisted, and I was pretty proud of myself.

The the next challenge came to me as I got to the cafe in the building, fully intending to get a large salad to take back to my desk.  I look at the grill line, and they’re doing corned beef reubens today.  I LOVE these things, too!  I almost got in line to get one, but I was good!

I got to the salad bar, made my salad, paid for it, and got back to my desk.  I enjoyed the salad, and I’m glad I stuck to what I should be eating.

This weekend, I’m getting some Lara bars for snacks.  I’ll do a write up on that next week, I think.  These are the best bars I’ve found for flavor and nutrition, and they’re vegan, organic, all that good stuff.  Great flavors, too!

So I’m happy with my first week, though I can do better, and I will next week!  2 lbs and going!

Good luck with your diet. Hard to diet during the summer, but then when is a good time?

  2. Curt McAdams Says:

Thanks, Sylvie. I actually do better in the summer… I’m less likely to make sauces, fry stuff, etc. But you’re right… there’s never a good time. The way I’ll be eating, though, will be something I can continue once I get going at it.

is that a standard sandwich???? That is SOOOO much meat… That cannot be right… issit?~!

  4. Curt Says:

Actually, that’s not a sandwich from the deli in the building where I was working. It’s more like a Carnegie Deli reuben… That’s pretty much a standard sandwich there.
