People will argue about where barbecue originated, or even from which language the word ‘barbecue’ is derived.  However, it’s hard to argue with the fact that barbecue is bigger in the US than just about anywhere else.

However, barbecue is increasingly popular in Europe, too. 
The World Barbecue Association held their 2006 championship last month in Wroclaw, Poland, with the Polish BBQ Kings from Poland taking first place!  I think, after seeing their site, I’m going to have to take a trip a competition some day, maybe one in Italy.

I’ve recently relaunched the Bucky McOinkum’s website, at www.buckymcoinkumsbbq.com.

There’s, of course, a link to my blog here, but I’ve also listed a history of competitions in which we’ve competed as well as a variety of options for personal chef services.

I put a link there to Cook’s Wares, a local kitchen store.  We’ll be doing a class there on September 18 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  The class will be on tailgating, with some info on barbecue in general and barbecue competitions.  Weather permitting, and landlord permitting, we’ll set up a little competition site with an EZ up and our smoker to show people a bit of what a comp site might look like.
