Another try for reader comments

Topic: General|

JarsI tried to get you all to write a comment before, but only a couple of you did.  I think I came up with another idea… Let’s see if you all fall for it… I mean go along with it!

This weekend, I’m canning a batch of Javacue Sauce.  Now, I have to admit, this is pretty good stuff!  I’ve had offers from people to buy it next time I make it, in fact.

So here’s the deal…

From June 10th through the 16th, the five (that’s 5) people in the US that post the most comments that are relevent (at least a couple sentences that make sense, and my word is final) during that time will get a jar of sauce delivered free of charge.  Of, if you prefer (if you’re one of the winners), you can choose brisket, pork, ribs or chicken rubs instead.

I’ll post the winners’ names after next week, and those that win can email me their info.  I won’t use it for anything other than to send you the sauce or rubs, so you don’t need to worry about privacy issues or anything.

If anyone would like to buy a jar of sauce, something can probably be arranged for that, too!  If you’re interested, email me for a price and shipping costs: cmcadams@buckymcoinkumsbbq.com.

    Curt,

Your killing me. =) I really did not need a reason to keep posting. At least now I can tell my wife that I am trying to win something. Between the sauce, rub and team shirt I have a new Father’s day, birthday, and Christmas wish list. Believe it or not but it has been three weeks since I smoked something. Now that the weather turned nice here in the Buckeye State I do not have the time. At least I have grilled several times.

    Go Bucks

Todd, weather looks good this weekend… Time to start up the somker again, then you can do some yardwork while ribs are cooking!

I suppose I should have told you sooner that when I read your blog my mouth waters so much I have to lean back from the computer so as not to drip onto the keyboard. You are definitely on the top of the “Food, My Favorite Meal” websites.

PWC, I’m glad you like the photos… A lot of the stuff is really not hard to make, but the thing I like about blogs is I can look without raising my cholesterol!

  5. The Survival Gourmet Says:

    Is it the 10th yet?

Are you coming to the Bash?

  6. Curt McAdams Says:

SG, I’m not going to make the Bash, though I’m going to to plan on it next year. And it’s not the 10th for another 33 minutes… Then again, from what I hear about your sauce, mine may be slop compared to what you’re used to!

  7. Ron Templeman Says:

Curt, is this sauce primarily for pork or do you use it on jsut about anything? I’ve just started trying to make my own sauces, but I’m not there yet. I’m trying to improve on a chipotle smokey sauce that I made. I have canned tomatoes and pickled breen beans before, but when I tried to can salsa, it just tasted like tomatoe sauce when opened. I enjoy your posts on this blog and barbecuebible.

    Ron,

It’s a pretty generic sauce. We like it with chicken a lot, but it’s good on ribs and pork, too. A great book for sauces is the Paul Kirk sauce book (I don’t remember the title offhand). He has a worksheet on making your own sauce, and goes into the different components very well.

I’ve never canned salsa; maybe it just needs less precooking and more spices when you can it? I do love canned tomatoes, though, especially with fried potatoes! Maybe that’s the next blog entry for me… Comfort Foods!
